Americans' gluttonous, selfish attitudes, not even realized

The other day, I'm walking with a friend and his dogs. We're on a backroad, one with a single yellow line in the middle an no bike lane, and I was thinking about things; life, the economy, how self absorbed people are. It is ridiculous. People are so self absorbed, speeding by, going at least 40MPH in a 25MPH zone, caring not for those walking, only about themselves, their 'cool' car, SUV. It is amazing to me, how people can be so self centered, bitching about gas prices, yet no one slows down. So wrapped up in themselves, think they're being told how to drive, but the speed limit isn't posted low to control them, it is because it is a windy, narrow road and it is dangerous to speed down. These idiots come flying up on us & hit their highbeams, blinding us. If the idiots were not speeding, they wouldn't panic when they see someone walking and hit their highbeams.

We took the bait, which happened years ago, when the market got flooded with OIL. We all get to have our OWN car, waste gas, speeding, driving while on the phone. I walk often, on the road, as well, I bike. One thing I noticed about people, how sad and selfish they really can be. If I'm walking, they'll drive right close by me, speeding along, not caring, which worried me; some day some self absorbed chick, in her Lexus SUV gas whore, is going to run me over, as she's blabbing on the phone and she'll try to blame it on me, I'm sure. It's like, slow the F*CK down, hang up the phone and get a f*cking clue. Really, though...

Funny, and truly pathetic, these days, when I walk, I'll grab a 4 or 5 foot stick, and walk with it to my side, in the road. Interesting how many people now slow down and have more caution when they pass me by, they're afraid the stick might scratch their car, or whatnot, as opposed to giving a shit about another human being walking on the road. Seriously, if I had no stick, my life would be in more danger.

We are gluttonous. We all don't need at least 1 car, it's pathetic, truly pathetic. We cannot get enough grease, smoke, gas, or drugs. Anything someone can sell, we're buying it. And now, after years of cheap oil, we all drive our cars, any way we see fit, and it seems no one is realizing, we're just pawns, gobbling up the crap marketed to us, and making these other humans rich as anything.
